Greek Crisis: Strike a pose

If you are the Finance Minister of a beleaguered country, on the brink of an economic collapse, which by your proclamations is going through a humanitarian crisis and thus deserving of more lenient treatment from its creditors, then maybe it's not the best of ideas to be photographed for a glossy Parisian magazine living the high life at the foothills of the Acropolis. But that is exactly what Greek FM Yanis Varoufakis did last week for the Parisian Paris Match. A predictable tsunami of disparaging domestic and foreign comments ensued. And in an interview on a Greek TV station he later confessed he regrets the photo shoot and that he does “not agree with the aesthetic" of it. Apparently he had asked for something less conformist, a more radical let's say photographic approach, like for example Pierre et Gilles or LaChapelle, that suits the new Greek government's ethos better.
