Populist demagogues come in all shapes and sizes but it appears that in the social media age, the more emoji-like they are, the more popular appeal they seem to elicit. Cue in US presidential nominee Donald Trump and ex-mayor of London Boris Johnson, both advocating for a "brexit", i.e. Great Britain leaving the European Union in a frenzy of xenophobia and nationalism.
